Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us for TikPlay — the app, the overlays it serves, this website and your account.
In effect from
The short version
- TikPlay is free. A Pro licence unlocks extra features and works on one device at a time.
- Fourteen days from purchase, any reason, no questions: write to support@tikplay.app and we refund you. Your statutory rights sit on top of that, never underneath it.
- A full refund revokes the licence automatically and Pro stops at the next check-in. A chargeback has the same result, applied by hand once we are notified. A partial refund changes nothing. Nothing on your computer is touched either way.
- A paid licence checks in with our server every ten minutes. We review those check-ins for signs of code sharing. A licence we flag gets a much shorter offline window, and can be suspended — a person decides that, not software, and a person will look again if you ask.
- TikPlay records your live events on your own computer, and out of the box it keeps them forever. That archive is about your viewers, it is yours to manage, and clause 11 tells you how.
- We are not TikTok. TikTok can break the connection at any time, and when that happens it is not a defect we can promise to fix.
- We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury, for fraud, or for gross negligence — and where the law where you live gives you more than this page does, the law wins.
This box is a summary, not the agreement. The clauses below are.
1Who we are
TikPlay is made and sold by EGO HERO LLC, a limited liability company registered in Wyoming, United States, at 5830 East 2nd Street, Ste 7000 # 31990, Casper, WY 82609, United States. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that company, and "you" means the person using TikPlay.
Write to us at support@tikplay.app. We read English, Korean and Japanese, and we answer in the language you wrote in. Questions about personal data go to privacy@tikplay.app instead, which reaches our privacy officer. Formal notices can also be sent to the address above.
These terms cover the TikPlay desktop app, the overlay pages it serves on your own machine, the website at tikplay.app, and the account area. Downloading the app, using the site or buying a licence means you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use TikPlay — that is the whole consequence.
How we handle personal data is a separate document, the Privacy Policy on this site. It forms part of this agreement, and where the two ever disagree about data, the Privacy Policy is the one that describes what actually happens.
2What TikPlay is
TikPlay is a desktop app you install on your own computer. It connects to your TikTok LIVE broadcast, shows the events in an app window, and serves overlay pages from a small web server running on that same machine — by default at 127.0.0.1:7373 — so that TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS can display them.
Chat, gifts, viewer names, translations and your stream history are processed on your computer and stored there. They are never sent to us. There is no TikPlay cloud between you and your viewers, and we could not read your chat if we wanted to.
So TikPlay is not a service we run for you: it is software that runs on your machine and talks to TikTok on your behalf. The only things our own servers do are hand out the installer and its update manifest, check a paid licence, and receive a support message when you send one.
3Who may use TikPlay
- You must be 18 or older. TikTok restricts LIVE to adults and so do we; if we learn a licence belongs to someone under 18 we may end it, and we will delete the data the law requires us to delete.
- You need your own TikTok account, and the right to broadcast on the channel you point TikPlay at.
- An account on this website is optional — the app works without one. It exists so you can see your licence and free a seat when a machine is gone. You sign in with a link sent to your email, or with Google if you prefer.
- Your licence code is a credential. Anyone holding it can take the seat, so keep it the way you would keep a password, and tell us if it leaks.
4Your licence
The free tier needs no licence and does not expire. When you buy TikPlay Pro we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Pro features, for as long as the plan you bought is active. You are buying a licence to use the software, not the software itself.
One device at a time. Activating binds the licence to that installation, and a second machine will be refused while the first holds the seat.
Moving to another computer is meant to be easy. Remove the licence in the app on the old machine first, then activate on the new one — that path is not rationed. If the old machine is gone for good (dead disk, stolen, wiped), sign in to your account here and release the seat from there. That second route is limited to three releases per licence in any thirty days, because "release here, activate there" is exactly how one licence ends up serving a group.
A lifetime licence means the software as it exists plus whatever updates we ship, for as long as we operate TikPlay. It is not a promise that TikTok will keep working the way it does today. And to be straight with you about the limit of it: a paid licence proves itself against our server, so if we ever had to shut that server down, Pro would lapse when the last check-in expired. If that day comes we will try to publish a build that no longer needs the check — we will not pretend we have already built it.
What a licence does not allow: sharing, selling, lending or publishing your code; using one licence for several people or several streamers; working around the seat limit or the Pro gates; removing or altering the notices that ship with the app.
You may not decompile or reverse engineer TikPlay, except where the law says you may — including the rights to observe, study and test the program and to decompile it for interoperability under Articles 5(3) and 6 of Directive 2009/24/EC, and equivalent rights elsewhere. To the extent this clause would restrict those rights, it does not apply. A tool that exists to interoperate is not going to pretend interoperability is a crime.
What you make in TikPlay — overlay designs, effect scripts, boards, sounds, settings — is yours. It lives on your disk, it is not licensed to us, and it keeps working if the licence lapses, with the Pro features switched off.
5How the licence check works
While a paid licence is active the app checks in with our server about every ten minutes. It sends two things: a SHA-256 hash of your licence code and a random identifier generated for that installation. It does not send your handle, your email, your chat or anything about your broadcast.
Our server records the IP address and country the check-in came from, and deletes those records after ninety days. That is a real job that runs, not an intention. The Privacy Policy explains why we keep it and how to object.
If our server cannot be reached, Pro keeps working for up to seventy-two hours and then falls back to the free tier until the app can check in again. Your network is not your licence.
We look at check-in patterns — how many installations, how many different networks and countries, how fast they change — to catch codes that are being shared or resold. A licence we flag gets a much shorter offline window, hours instead of a month, and can be suspended, at which point the app behaves as if it were free. A person makes that decision by reading the check-in trail; there is no scoring model in the product, and no licence is suspended by software on its own. We can still be wrong.
So it comes with a person attached. Write to support@tikplay.app and a human will read it, tell you what we saw, hear your side, and put it right if we were wrong. You are never required to accept a decision taken solely by automated means, and we will not hide behind one.
The free tier does not check in at all. It makes no licence call of any kind.
6Free and Pro
The app is free and stays free. There is no trial clock, no demo mode and no feature that quietly stops working after a fortnight — the free tier is the trial. Install it, run a real broadcast with it, and decide afterwards.
A Pro licence unlocks the features listed on the pricing card on this site. Two of them are not built yet: text to speech and games. The app marks them as coming and their tabs are placeholders. If you buy today you are buying the ones that work now, plus our intention to finish those two — we would rather say that here than let you count them.
If a licence lapses, is refunded or is suspended, the Pro features switch off and everything else keeps working: the app, your overlays, your recordings, your designs and your settings.
7Price and payment
Prices are shown on this site and again at checkout. You pay the amount shown, in US dollars, and nothing is added at the last step. Your bank may charge its own currency conversion or foreign transaction fee — we never see it and never receive it.
Payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never to us: we receive the email address you paid with and a reference to the payment, and that is all. Stripe processes the payment and runs its own fraud checks under its own terms and privacy policy.
We do not issue discount codes, and our checkout refuses a session whose amount is not exactly the listed price. If a site offers you a TikPlay coupon, it is not us.
Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the account area, which opens Stripe’s billing portal. Cancelling stops the next charge; Pro stays on until the end of the period you have already paid for. A lifetime licence is a single payment: there is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.
If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it for a while and we suspend the licence until it succeeds. Suspended means held, not ended — the app treats it as blocked, and a successful payment brings it straight back.
Your licence code is emailed to you once the payment is confirmed. We store only a hash of it, never the code, so if that email never arrives we cannot resend it — we can only issue you a new one. Tell us and we will.
8Refunds and withdrawal
Fourteen days from purchase, any reason, no questions. Write to support@tikplay.app from the address you bought with, or from your account, and we refund you to the original payment method. Stripe usually takes a few working days to return the money.
We do not ask you to give up a withdrawal right in exchange for getting your code immediately. You get the code immediately and you get the fourteen days.
This is our own policy and it sits on top of the law, never underneath it. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, or in the UK, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. In Korea you have a 7-day right of withdrawal under the e-commerce act — and because TikPlay is fully usable for free before you buy, we do not rely on the digital-content restriction to cut it short. Wherever your local rule is better than ours, your local rule is the one that applies.
For subscriptions the fourteen days runs from the first payment of the plan. A renewal is not refunded once the new period has started — cancel before the renewal date instead, and keep Pro until the period ends. If we cancel your subscription and you were not at fault, we refund the part of the period you paid for and did not get.
None of this affects your rights if the software is faulty or is not what it was sold as. Those are conformity rights, they have their own remedies, and clause 14 says so plainly.
9What happens on a refund or chargeback
When a refund goes through, Stripe tells our server and the licence is revoked. The next check-in refuses it, so Pro stops within about ten minutes if the app is running, or at the next launch if it is not. Restarting the app does not bring it back.
The rest of the app keeps working on the free tier. We do not reach into your computer: nothing is deleted, and your settings, overlays, designs, sounds, boards and recordings stay exactly where they are. Losing the licence does not take away anything you made with it.
A chargeback — a payment you dispute with your bank rather than with us — has the same effect on the licence, applied by hand once we are notified rather than the moment the dispute is opened. If a chargeback is raised on a licence that has been in use, we may decline to sell to you again. If you think it was a mistake, write to us: we would much rather fix it in an email than argue about it through two banks.
If you believe a payment was made from your card without permission, contact your bank, and tell us too. We will help either way, and nothing in these terms asks you to go through us first.
10Acceptable use
When you use TikPlay, you agree not to:
- share, sell, lend or publish your licence code, or an overlay URL and its token — one licence is for one person;
- use TikPlay with a channel you do not own or are not authorised to operate;
- build gift-triggered chance or gambling mechanics out of it. Paying a gift for a chance at a prize is the exact shape TikTok’s community guidelines exist for; TikPlay deliberately does not implement it, and assembling it from the parts we do ship is a breach of these terms;
- use TikPlay in a way that breaks TikTok’s Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, or the law where you are;
- circumvent, disable or falsify the licence check, the seat limit or the Pro gates, or help anyone else to;
- redistribute what the installer brings with it — translation models, fonts, sound files, third-party libraries — outside the licence its author gave it. Those licences are listed in the app and on this site;
- use TikPlay to harvest viewer data for someone else, to build a list you sell, or to track, target or harass a person;
- show, through an overlay, content that is unlawful where it is broadcast, or that sexualises a minor. What your overlay displays is your content and your responsibility.
Clause 17 says what we can do if one of these is broken, and how much warning you get first.
11Your stream, your viewers’ data
Read this one even if you skip the rest. TikPlay records your live events on your own computer, and it does so by default: "Record live events" is on when you install, and Retention is set to Unlimited. Out of the box the app keeps every chat message, viewer handle, nickname, avatar link, gift and like from every broadcast, indefinitely, in a database file in your user folder.
None of it is uploaded to us — and nothing is deleted behind your back either. Both halves of that are deliberate: it is your archive, on your disk, and we are not going to prune it silently or read it remotely.
But it is an archive about other people. Depending on where you live, keeping it can make you the one responsible for it under privacy law: the controller in the EU and the UK, and its equivalent under Korean and Japanese law. Not us — we never receive it, so we cannot answer a viewer who asks you what you hold about them, and we cannot delete it for you.
That means you are responsible for having a reason to keep it, for keeping it safe, for telling your viewers if your local law requires it, and for answering them when they ask.
The controls are in the app’s settings, and they are real: turn "Record live events" off and nothing is written at all; set Retention to "Capped" and the oldest sessions and events are pruned automatically; or prune the raw event payloads on their own. One honest caveat — the Host Info history, meaning the per-day totals and the top-gifter tables, is deliberately never pruned, because a streamer’s own record of their year should not vanish when the event archive rolls. To remove that too, delete the database file: it is in your TikPlay user-data folder, it is an ordinary file, and it is yours to copy, move or delete.
One more thing worth knowing: some overlay pages load viewer avatars and gift artwork straight from TikTok’s own image servers while your stream is running. That is a request from your machine to TikTok, not through us.
12TikPlay and TikTok
TikPlay is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to TikTok, ByteDance Ltd., or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates. TikTok and the TikTok logo are trademarks of their respective owners; we name them only to describe what our software works with.
You are responsible for your own compliance with TikTok’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and for anything that happens to your TikTok account. If you choose to paste a TikTok session cookie into the app so that room lookups work more reliably, that is your account credential and your decision; the app seals it on your disk and never sends it anywhere except TikTok itself.
TikPlay reaches TikTok LIVE over an interface TikTok does not publish for this purpose. TikTok can change it, throttle it, or close it at any time, without notice to anyone — and when that happens, features can break or disappear. That is not a defect in TikPlay, we cannot promise a fix, and we cannot promise a date. We will say what we know, and we will try.
That is a description of reality, not a switch that turns off your rights. If a paid feature stops working for a meaningful length of time, the conformity rules where you live still apply, and clause 8 and clause 14 still mean what they say.
13Services TikPlay depends on
Every connection to a TikTok LIVE broadcast has to be signed by a third-party service called Euler Stream. There is no way around it and no keyless path: without that signature there is no connection, for anyone. Euler necessarily sees your IP address and which room you are connecting to. Its free tier is rate-limited; you can raise your own limit with a free key from them, entered in the app’s settings.
This is the one dependency worth naming twice. If Euler is down, or you are over its quota, TikPlay cannot connect — a paid tool held up by a service we neither own nor pay for on your behalf. We will keep watching it, and if a better path ever exists we will take it, but we are not going to promise an uptime we do not control.
The website and the licence system depend on Stripe (payments), Supabase (database and sign-in, hosted in South Korea), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email) and Cloudflare R2 (installer downloads). Google is involved only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Some optional features fetch something when you ask them to: fonts from Google Fonts for the overlay font library, sounds from Openverse when you search for one, the local AI model from Hugging Face when you press download, and translation packs from Mozilla’s servers when you install a language. The Privacy Policy lists what each of them sees.
These are third parties with their own terms, and we can change which ones we use. If one of them fails, the TikPlay feature that leans on it fails with it. Where that leaves a paid feature unavailable for a meaningful period, tell us: we will fix it, work around it, or refund you fairly — in that order.
14Availability and warranties
We give you TikPlay as it is. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will suit a particular purpose you have in mind, that it will run on every machine or alongside every security product, or that the third parties it depends on will stay available.
Machine translation is machine translation. It runs on your own CPU, it is genuinely useful, and it is wrong sometimes. Do not rely on it where being wrong matters.
To the maximum extent the law allows, we exclude other warranties, conditions and terms that would otherwise be implied.
None of that touches rights you have by law which cannot be excluded. If you are a consumer you keep your statutory rights in full — including the conformity rights for digital content and services under Directive (EU) 2019/770 in the EU and EEA, their equivalent under the Consumer Rights Act in the UK, and the corresponding warranty and conformity rules in Korea and Japan. Software that does not do what it was sold as doing is a matter for those rules, and this clause does not override them.
We may change, add or retire features as the product develops. Where a change removes something a paid licence was sold for, we will say so in advance, and if you are worse off you can ask for a refund of the part you paid for and did not get.
15Limitation of liability
We do not limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for anything else that the law does not permit us to limit. Those are excluded from every limit below, and they stay excluded whatever else this page says.
Subject to that, and only in respect of ordinary negligence: our total liability for all claims connected with TikPlay arising in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) USD 100.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, for lost gifts, donations or subscriber income, for lost stream time or viewers, or for loss or corruption of data — except where you are a consumer and the loss was a foreseeable result of our breaking this agreement, in which case the law of your country decides what we owe, not this clause.
Some plain advice that goes with that: you are running our software on your own machine, against a platform we do not control, in front of an audience. Keep your own backups, and do not build a broadcast around a single feature you cannot afford to lose for an evening.
If a court finds any part of this clause unenforceable where you live, that part is removed and the rest of it still applies.
16Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against us because of the way you used TikPlay — what your overlays displayed, viewer data you collected or kept, a channel you were not entitled to use, or a breach of these terms — you will cover our reasonable costs and any damages awarded, to the extent the claim is caused by what you did.
This does not apply to anything we did or failed to do, and it never asks you to cover a loss we could reasonably have avoided. If you are a consumer, it applies only where you acted deliberately or negligently, and only as far as the law of your country allows.
If such a claim arrives we will tell you promptly, let you take part in defending it, and we will not settle it in your name without your agreement.
17Ending this agreement
You can stop at any time: uninstall the app, cancel the subscription from the account area, or simply stop using TikPlay. If you paid, clause 8 says what you get back.
We can suspend or end a licence if:
- you materially break these terms, in particular clause 10;
- the payment behind the licence is refunded, reversed or charged back;
- the code is being shared, resold, or used beyond the seat it was sold with;
- the licence check is being circumvented or falsified;
- the law requires it, or continuing would put us or our providers in breach.
Where the problem can be fixed, we tell you what it is and give you at least fourteen days to fix it before we end anything. Immediate suspension is reserved for fraud, a reversed payment, and cases where waiting would cause real harm — and even then we tell you why, and you can contest it with a person.
If we end a paid licence and you were not at fault, we refund the part you paid for and did not receive. If we ever stop offering TikPlay altogether, we will say so publicly with as much notice as we can manage, cancel subscriptions, and refund the unused part of the period.
Ending the agreement does not erase anything on your machine, and it does not take back the app itself; it takes back the Pro entitlement. Clauses 10, 15, 16, 18 and 20 survive the end of this agreement.
18Governing law and where disputes go
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Korea, and the courts of the Republic of Korea have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
If you are a consumer, that clause takes nothing away from you. You keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you habitually live, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country, and if we ever have to bring proceedings against you we will bring them there too. Nothing here requires arbitration, waives a class action, or shifts a burden of proof onto you.
Before any of that, please write to support@tikplay.app. Nearly everything on this page is fixable in an email, and we would rather fix it. Consumers can also take a complaint to the consumer body in their own country; in Korea that is the Korea Consumer Agency and the Electronic Commerce Mediation Committee.
19Changes to these terms
We can change these terms when there is a reason to: the law changes, a service we depend on changes, we add or retire a feature, or we find that something here is unclear or simply wrong. We do not change them to take back something you already paid for.
The new version is published on this page with its date at the top. If a change materially affects a licence you already hold or a subscription you already pay for, we will tell you at least thirty days before it takes effect — by email if we have your address, and on the site either way — and if you do not accept it you can cancel and we refund the part you paid for and did not get.
Changes are not applied retroactively, and no change can take away the core of a lifetime licence you have already bought. Continuing to use TikPlay after a change takes effect means you accept it; not accepting it means stopping, and that is the entire consequence.
20The rest
Language. These terms exist in English, Korean and Japanese and are meant to say the same thing. If they ever differ, the version in the language you bought in applies to you — or, if you have not bought anything, the version you are reading — and no other version reduces the rights you have under it.
If any part of these terms is unenforceable where you live, that part is cut out and the rest stands, with whatever mandatory rule replaces it applying instead. If we do not enforce something immediately, we have not given it up.
You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer ours if the business is sold or reorganised, and your rights transfer with them; if that ever happens, we will say so on this site.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the licence notices that ship with the app, are the whole agreement between us about TikPlay. Nothing here excludes our liability for something we told you that was not true.
